I was an avid Nokia Communicator (Smartphone) user. I’ve been using Nokia Communicator since Nokia 9210 to E90. The last Nokia I’ve used was Nokia E71. I’ve migrated to BlackBerry Bold 9000 in November 2008 and hooked to it ever since.

There are many reasons why I like to use BlackBerry smart-phones. These are some of the reasons why BlackBerry has captured the heart and mind of many Indonesians.

It took me about 3 minutes to startup my Windows notebook and took me another 2 minutes to fire up browser and to login into my GMAIL account. Getting my email on my BlackBerry is as just instant as looking at my watch.

Checking my email on my notebook need a place to sit. Checking my email on BlackBerry can be done standing up and walking.

If it took me about 5 minutes from starting up my notebook to login to my GMAIL. Chatting with my friend using Yahoo Messenger and Google Talk will take me another 2 minutes, totaled 7 minutes just to check email and to open chatting application.

It took me another minute to shut down my notebook. So every time I’d like to check my email and chat will require me an additional 8 minutes. Not cool!

Checking email and chat with my friends through my BlackBerry can be done instantly.

Nokia should launch Nokia Messaging like BlackBerry Internet Services with fixed monthly fee, I would think about getting back to Nokia. But wait… maybe not. Symbian S60 is slow and can be quite unresponsive. I would like keep my BlackBerry and buy an iPhone 3GS and an htc Hero to try the emerging and intuitive user interface (UI) of Android.

BlackBerry is a solid and secure smart-phones but a boring one. Android, however, just like GMAIL, slow but sure, has already being groomed by htc, SonyEricsson and Samsung. Who’s next?

Buh bye Nokia….
